Legacy Fund

Some gifts are immediate. A donation made today results in a piece of equipment ordered tomorrow, a scholarship awarded this fall, or a garden tended this season. The impact is visible, tangible, and timely.
But some of the most powerful gifts are those designed to keep giving — long after the original contribution has been made.

That is the vision behind the FSCHF Legacy Fund.

Established in 2020, the Legacy Fund is an endowment fund held in partnership with the Edmonton Community Foundation. Unlike the Foundation's general operating funds — which are raised and directed each year toward equipment and programs — the Legacy Fund is designed to grow over time. Contributions are invested, and the returns generated by those investments are channelled back into supporting the Foundation's mission year after year, in perpetuity.

Consider it this way: a contribution made to the Legacy Fund today may support a piece of life-saving equipment ten, twenty, or thirty years from now. The long-term impact of a single gift is difficult to fully measure — and that is precisely the point.

For an organization like the FSCHF — which depends substantially on annual fundraising, volunteer energy, and community goodwill — the Legacy Fund provides something invaluable: stability. It ensures that even in a year when fundraising revenue falls short of projections or when unforeseen circumstances affect the Foundation's capacity to operate at full strength, a sustainable source of support remains available to carry the mission forward.

Contributions to the Legacy Fund can be made in a variety of ways. Direct donations are always welcome. The Legacy Fund is also a meaningful vehicle for planned giving, including bequests through estates and wills. For those who wish to make a lasting contribution to the community they have called home, a gift to the Legacy Fund is a profound way to do so.

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital Foundation was built by people who believed in this community. The Legacy Fund is how we ensure that belief continues to carry forward.
