Scholarships

Healthcare is built on people — and people need to keep learning.

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital Foundation has long recognized that investing in the education of hospital staff is one of the most powerful ways to elevate the quality of care available in our community. That is why, since 2015, the Foundation has administered the FSCHF Memorial Scholarship Program — an annual award designed to help the dedicated professionals of Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital grow in their respective fields.

The premise is simple but meaningful: eligible permanent staff members who are pursuing further education in a healthcare-related field can apply for financial support through the Foundation. Each year, $3,000 is awarded among successful applicants, helping to offset tuition costs, course fees, and other expenses that can make continuing education difficult to access.

The scholarship is available to permanent staff working 0.40 FTE or the equivalent — including casual staff who are consistently working at that level. All eligible applications are carefully reviewed by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee, with candidates selected based on the merit of their application and the relevance of their educational goals to healthcare in our community.

For 2026, applications are being accepted from April 20th through June 15th. Successful candidates will be notified by September 18th.

The impact of this program extends well beyond the individual recipients. When a nurse pursues advanced training, patients benefit. When a technician upgrades their certification, diagnostic accuracy improves. When any member of the hospital team invests in their own professional development, the entire community gains. The ripple effects of this program are felt by every patient who walks through the doors of Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital.

To date, the scholarship program has supported numerous staff members in taking meaningful next steps in their careers, from pursuing specialized nursing credentials to advancing in allied health fields. Their stories are a testament to what becomes possible when a community chooses to invest in the people who care for it.

If you are a staff member at Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital and would like to apply, application packages are available at the Foundation Office, Room 1C-012. For more information, contact Letitia Gregoire at 780-342-3115 or info@fschf.ca. The deadline for the 2026 cycle is June 15th — all eligible staff are encouraged to apply before the deadline.
